BMG – Bulk Metallic Glass

The following video is used to demonstrate the elastic degree of BMG: the action involves dropping a ball of high hardness on a piece of stainless steel (right) and on a metallic glass BMG (left).

It can be seen that the one dropped on the BMG bounces better and for a longer duration.

The BMG block“elastically” absorbs the impact of the ball by returning some of the energy; the other steel block, on the other hand, returns very little kinetic energy to the ball, quickly dampening its rebound.
